Expedition to Jura in France 28th June-9th July 2026 – spaces available

We currently have 8 people attending the GSG Jura trip from 28th June to 9th July. This is a fantastic caving area with stunning scenery and plenty of other holiday activities as well – kayaking, via ferrata, walks, wine, cheese, baguettes…. What more could you ask for?

The caves are varied, from the epic through trip of the Bief Bousettes/Verneau (see Julian Walford’s writeup of a trip that we were both on here: https://www.ubss.org.uk/resources/newsletter/UBSS_NL_web_series3_v1_sv1.pdf ) to big swims through endless gour pools in the Grotte de Chauveroche.

List of caves here: http://www.clipstone1.plus.com/Juracaves.htm

We are also expecting to make a day trip over the Swiss border to visit Grotte de Milandre, where Thomas Arbenz is a member of the key holding club. Loads to do!

Ross originally proposed this as a family trip, but it’s morphed into just a normal club trip (i.e. no kids – wahey! ) Accomodation is still being finalised but either camping or bunkhouse, with chalets still available on site if we end up at the campsite.

There is room for more folk if anyone’s interested, so if you want to join please email Ross at:

BCA News – update on public tours

BCA has recently been involved in discussions with BCA insurers regarding providing PL insurance cover for clubs that take members of the public underground on tours or trips. (This is different to taking ‘prospective members’ underground, which has always been covered and has not changed.)

BCA now have confirmation that our insurers are happy to cover PL risks for these tours for members of the public, as long as the clubs that offer them comply with certain guidelines.

Please see guidelines document here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NlcqQ4i9znbZGT00jtGSFFoxWGB9rBkY/view?usp=drive_link

If you have any questions/ concerns about the guidelines, or anything else, please get in touch by emailing

Please note, as guidelines, groups that take members of the public underground will need to send certain details of the participants and trips to the BCA at the end of each calendar year.
